Enormity of the VNT on the Grand New Fortuner Diesel

Variable Nozzle Turbo Diesel that used in Toyota Fortuner is extraordinary. The device is able to increase power and torque output significantly.

With the VNT, the power production increased from 102 PS/3600rpm to 144ps/3400rpm. While the torque 26.5kgm/1600 - 2400 rpm to 35kgm/1600-2800rpm. Significant improvement was solely due to VNT for the exact same engine that is used, the diesel four-cylinder 2.5-liter capacity.

Turbo installation goal is to enrich the amount of oxygen into the fuel for complete combustion rang. Supplementary oxygen is sucked from the outside. Turbocharger compressor consists of a charge to suck and push air into the combustion chamber. Kompressor has the same shaft with the turbine. If the turbine spins, rotates the compressor to suck the air out as well, now it is driven turbine exhaust gases from the engine.

At the regular Turbo, so the compressor can be effective, it takes a strong turbin rotation. It can only be generated if the exhaust gas pressure is high enough. Or in other words, the new Turbo effective at high rpm.

How to get enough pressure on low rpm? This is where the innovation of VNT. The differences with the regular Turbo, is that VNT equipped with turbine blades home / blades. Blades opening angle can be adjusted depending on engine load, rpm, and many other variables. Blades mover is an electric motor.

At low rpm, when the exhaust gas pressure is still weak and ineffective turbines, the blades are closed so that the exhaust gas flowing in a narrow area which automatically increases the pressure. The result can effectively turn a turbine that makes the compressor work since the lower rounds.

The higher the engine speed, the angle of aperture blades to avoid the greater the excess pressure which can damage the turbo.

Because the turbo related to the hot exhaust gas flow, the inhaled air temperature increase. In fact, if the temperature of the hot air makes tenuous molecular oxygen and thinning. Therefore, the Toyota Fortuner Diesel is fitted between the turbo intercooler and intake manifold to lower the temperature of the hot air back to the oxygen content becomes more dense.

Source of cooling air is blowing out of the water flowing from the hood scoop on the Fortuner Diesel VNT.
